The path to a History or Social Science career can be difficult to navigate.

The majority of professions require a 4 year college degree and graduate level studies. PLUS strong networking skills. YEHSS is a youth workforce development program that creates a pathway to a career in History/Social Science. To increase diversity in management we gear our program towards: all Girls and Black, Latinx, Asian, South Asian, Pacific Islander, and Indigenous Boys.

YEHSS OAK PARK - 2021

The first YEHSS program was implemented in Sacramento, California. Oak Park is the city's historically Black neighborhood.

The program focused on Sacramento's Black history and Historic preservation careers.

Due to the public health crisis the program ran as a 6 week virtual workshop series supporting the youth docents of the Sojourner Truth African Heritage Museum.

Several community organizations supported the program. The program was sponsored by The Black Child Legacy Campaign.
