YOUNG ENLIGHTEDNED HISTORIANS
&
SOCIAL SCIENTISTS

The path to a History or Social Science career can be difficult to navigate.

The majority of professions require a 4 year college degree and graduate level studies. PLUS strong networking skills.

YEHSS is a youth workforce development program that creates a pathway to a career in History/Social Science. To increase workforce diversity we gear our program towards: all Girls and Black, Latinx, Asian, South Asian, Pacific Islander, and Indigenous Boys.

This first edition of YEHSS focused on Sacramento's Black history and Historic preservation careers. Oak Park is Sacramento's historically Black neighborhood.

Due to the COVID-19 public health crisis, YEHSS 2021 ran as a 6 week virtual workshop series supporting the youth docents of the Sojourner Truth African Heritage Museum.

YEHSS 2022 ran as a pop-up exhibit at community events.
